About this deal

It’s indeed a novel idea, and I can see myself using mouse and bluetooth keyboard when wirelessly presenting to the nearest monitor on an android tablet.

I’m the ‘palm grip’ kind of a mouse user and even though the mouse runs a bit short from fitting ‘like a glove’, I can still grip it comfortably. I was able to successfully dismantle the mouse and offending micro-switch, and bend the internal spring mechanism to get it working normal again. The reduce in weight kind of throw me off a little bit, but I’m sure it’s just a matter of getting used to. It supports both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, which includes the ability to pair with up to 3 different computers or devices. The display of third-party trademarks and trade names on this site does not necessarily indicate any affiliation or the endorsement of PCMag. You get an almost ambidextrously shaped mouse, with a pair of forward and back buttons on the left side of the body, a high quality metal scroll wheel that can be tilted for horizontal scrolling, and the venerable DarkField laser sensor that can go up to 1600 DPI and able to track almost on any surface.

As small as the receiver is, it does of course stick out of the side of the port, where as Bluetooth does not. There are likely people around who only exclusively use a trackpad, but for those of us who prefer a mouse, having a mouse makes working easier.

The small unifying receiver is great, but on a device like a Surface Pro 3, which has just a single USB port, occupying that port with a mouse seems a bit wasteful. It’s (probably) more comfortable to my hands, has more functions, and arguably an overall better mouse than the MX Anywhere 2. The Anywhere Mouse MX had a great on/off switch which was actually a slide cover which protected the lasers and sensor when closed, and closing this would also turn off the mouse. The mouse utilises laser movement detection technology and has a movement resolution of 1600 DPI, making it accurate and precise.
