About this deal

This tree grows so high that it reaches special clouds that contain magical lands which visit every now and again and rest on the top-most branches. In 1997, stories from the novels were adapted into animated ten-minute episodes for the TV series Enid Blyton's Enchanted Lands. It belongs to the house of the Angry Pixie and his method of evening the odds when passers-by look in on him is to empty a kettle of water over the nosy-parkers.

They chase the gnome and recover the papers, but the gnome himself escapes up a huge tree whose branches seem to reach into the clouds. Near the end of the book Silky, Moon-Face and Saucepan are nowhere to be found and the children are informed of this by another inhabitant of the Faraway Tree — Mr Watzisname who visits them and even stays the night at their home. With Moonface, Saucepan Man and Silky the pixie, they explore the amazing lands to be found at the top of the tree – the Land of Spells, the Land of Toys, and the tempting Land of Goodies, but then one day Moonface, Silky and Saucepan Man disappear mysteriously. Dick (later Rick), the cousin of Jo, Bessie and Fanny, comes to stay and he joins the secret adventures in the lands of the Faraway Tree.

He has a slide in the floor of his little home and it goes right down to the bottom of the tree and it is just one of the attractions which supply the children with so many good times. Line a tin with baking paper and allow it to hang over the sides - this will allow you to pull the buns out easily after baking.Roll each piece into a ball and place them together in the pan, they should be somewhat tight and touching. I think I expected to have far more adventures than I actually did, looking back my childhood years were curiously absent of the troubles with smugglers and treasure hunters that I thought I would experience.

They go to the wood to meet Jo, Bessie and Fanny and meet some of the wood's residents, including Silky and Moon Face. They befriend many of the residents and have adventures in magical lands that visit the top of the tree.So when you got to the currant and bit it the sherbet frothed out and filled your mouth with fine bubbles that tasted delicious. I found I had to manually work the sultanas through at this stage to ensure they would be properly distributed. That’s it - sherbet is so easy to make and I’m only now feeling anger at all the packs of Whiz Fizz I bought as a small child.

The tree is so tall that its topmost branches reach into the clouds and it is wide enough to contain small houses carved into its trunk. The tree also grows different types of fruit on its branches so there is plenty of sustenance for the tired climber who needs to keep on going up and up and up to reach the current land at the top. Due to his lack of knowledge regarding the Faraway Tree, Dick has some more wetness added to his clothing because there happens to be a washer-woman further up who uses a considerable amount of water in her trade although the book doesn't tell us how it is piped up to her place of residence. The children got a real surprise when they bit their currants, and Moon-Face almost fell off the branch with laughing.Fanny and Dick have been renamed Frannie and Rick because in the United Kingdom and some countries in the Commonwealth of Nations they are now more widely used as slang terms for genitalia. Dame Washalot of whom we don't hear about all that much, loses her temper in one chapter and displays quite alarming strength by throwing the children, Moon-Face and the Saucepan Man up into one of the strange lands. Her numerous books, while telling the stories of children having adventures in faraway lands or solving mysteries on a private island (a re-read of some of the Famous Five books has now revealed to me at an older age that these families must be loaded.
