About this deal

Amrich and Harris lamented the scarce save points, with the former claiming that "you should expect to play for an hour or two each time you pick it up if you want to make real progress". The Gameboy Color versions of Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets are turn based RPG's along with Prisoner of Azkaban on GBA (all three were done by the same studio).

Based on the 1997 novel of the same name, the player controls Harry Potter, who must navigate his first year in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and eventually confront the villainous Lord Voldemort. Diversions abound as you solve action-oriented puzzles with Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Albus Dumbledore and a host of unforgettable characters from the now internationally acclaimed J. This is followed by a segment in which Harry must use the newly learned spell to collect a number of certain items while fending off creatures and solving puzzles. Harry and his pals are about to embark upon a magical journey; the bespectacled boy wizard has been chosen as a contestant in the prestigious but punishing Triwizard Tournament.Overall Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone for the Game Boy Advance is a less than enjoyable experience as its gameplay can be likened to a frustrating and almost broken puzzle platformer. The game also differed between platforms; whilst the console release was a traditional 3D over the shoulder perspective, featuring boss fights and detective sections, the PC version featured similar puzzle solving missions as those in earlier versions. While the dungeons can be tricky, there's nothing quite as difficult as the Quidditch parts of the game; while the matches don't necessarily need to be won, there are sections of the game which have to be completed on a broomstick that can prove to be difficult to control and to pass. If anyone can tell me how to finish the task please tell me because I can't bear trying any more, and the game is now gathering dust. Some scenes do not look quite right – the scale of the characters against the width of the Hogwarts Express clearly do not tally.

There are a number of little sub-games which have to be completed to progress through the story, but unfortunately these all tend to be of the same kind - mostly sneaking around corridors without getting caught by Prefects, Snape or Filch. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (released in the United States as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) is a 2001 video game developed by Griptonite Games and published by Electronic Arts for the Game Boy Advance. Michael Lafferty of GameZone said that the game lived up to his expectations as a fan of the book series and figured that it would be appealing to casual gamers as well, but warned that the initial puzzles would be too simple for veterans and that the enemies' artificial intelligence (AI) was predictable. I think I finished it in about 4 hours - it's a nice looking/sounding game, but certainly no Zelda if you wants a few weeks of play out of it.Baker criticized the broomstick's excessive speed, which made turning difficult, and Kim said that the Quidditch sequences were too infrequent to affect the game's feeling of repetitiveness. The animations are decent for the time, but any battles with enemies are too shortlived or frustrating to enjoy when compared to the RPG stylings of the Game Boy Colour release. Tim Wapshott of The Times gave the game a score of four stars out of five and stated, "The game remains faithful to the spirit of the book, but it is perhaps a little too linear and predictable. You spend most of that time attempting to direct your little Harry Potter from one end of 'hogworts' to another to perform another menial task of little interest or concequence.
