About this deal

Atomos recommends that your Ninja is plugged into mains power before commencing the firmware update. NDI is a way to send video over ordinary networks (including Wi-Fi and mobile) in high quality but with remarkably low bandwidth requirements.

Any photographer knows the pain of squinting at the tiny screen on the back of your camera hoping to achieve the best focus and exposure. Traditionally documented with a static collection of still images, they are now a cinematic experience.

The screen is designed for outdoor usability, with a generous 1000nits, viewable even in direct sunlight. Stage clever cinematic shots and save time in post-production with the powerful Onion Skin and Frame Grab features built-in as standard. Easy-to-use but powerful tools include waveform, focus peaking, false color, zoom controls, custom LUTs, and frame guides. The Ninja V also has an additional connector at the base of the battery slot that can be used to mount additional AtomX modules for adding SDI and Syncing capabilities. In addition you can deliver content via a Dolby Vision live HDMI out, in real-time, from your HDR camera to a compatible Dolby Vision HDR TV or monitor.Note: If your Ninja Ultra is already powered on, you will be prompted to perform the firmware update when a drive containing new firmware is inserted. In this post I’m going to look at the Atomos Ninja V vs Shinobi when using them as purely as monitors. It features a 10-bit FRC IPS screen with a brightness of 1000 cd/m², which makes it suitable for use in both exterior and interior conditions. Unlike the Ninja the Shinobi just has 1/4 threaded mounting points top and bottom and this one doesn’t have the locating pin holes.

If switching between different camera models whilst HDMI Compatibility mode is selected, ensure that you reboot the Ninja V before connecting a new camera. It captured pristine, uncompressed video direct from the first generation of DSLRs straight onto a removable SSD. The thought that has gone into creating the Pro Kit, takes all the benefits of the original Ninja V and amplifies them. Ninja V is a stand-alone system for 4k UHD, HDR and high frame rate capture that eliminates expensive, complicated and unreliable PC setups. With the dual 12G SDI connectivity having been added to the Ninja V Pro, this has expanded the compatibility of the Ninja V Pro with other cameras.
