About this deal

Selena, held hostage by the last uninfected soldier, is horrified when Jim, covered in blood, bursts into the room and savagely kills the soldier, leading her to believe that he may be infected.

The final sequence, shot on film, is cleaner, with much better detail, color reproduction, and clarity. What elevates this feature beyond the norm is that both galleries include commentary from director Danny Boyle. The next morning, Frank informs Jim and Selena that supplies, particularly water, are dwindling, and shows them a prerecorded radio broadcast loop transmitted by soldiers near Manchester who claim to have "the answer to infection. Well, this is because it is nearly Father’s Day and most of the chaps I know have a fondness for zombies and disaster movies. Jim discovers that West's "answer to infection" involves waiting for the Infected to starve to death, while giving hope for community survival by forcing sexual servitude on the female survivors. If you're not particularly a fan of the film (which presumably he isn't having just got round to checking it out) that's not necessarily a particularly obvious piece of information. Animal activists invade a laboratory with the intention of releasing chimpanzees that are undergoing experimentation, infected by a virus -a virus that causes rage. Shocked, Jim attempts to escape with Selena and Hannah, but is captured by the soldiers, along with Sergeant Farrell (Stuart McQuarrie), who disagrees with the Major's plan. First off, directionality is slightly off in several scenes, and the design occasionally places rear sounds into all the channels for an artificially increased effect.

Drawing comparisons, 28 Days Later summons the aura and aggressiveness of George Miller's Mad Max and the urgent yearning to uncover one's forgotten past as in Dark City. There's trash all over the place, overturned double decker buses, and Jim cannot find another living soul. The softer shots were fairly restricted, so they added some light environmental audio but not much else. After all, if you're one of a handful of people alone in a world that threatens to destroy each and every one of you, why not fill your nights with food and drink? I know this is a weird question to ask, but as anyone who's seen the film knows, the 2002 Danny Boyle classic was shot on a digital camera at 480p.

The undead should be lumbering creatures of instinct that overwhelm their victims, instead of running them down. Hannah commandeers the cab and throws West to the infected Mailer, then escapes with Jim and Selena.

everything else, the soundtrack is a mixture of classical music and distorted guitar, and let me tell you, it does it so well, the movie is filmed in a documentary style which works well. The surrounds cranked with assaults, explosives and other elements and added a lot of involving audio to the set. He does happen to come across a few other survivors, and they band together in an attempt to survive. As Murphy's character strolls around the eerily empty London streets, there's a palpable sense of dread that easily matches the overt intensity of the film’s higher-adrenaline attack scenes. The scenes themselves are less interesting than the commentaries, which steer clear of the "we ran out of time" kind of comments.
